Edendale Grill - Silverlake, LA

Tonight John and I dined at Edendale Grill -a renovated firehouse in Silverlake that has become a great gathering spot on the east side of town. The main dining room is fabulous - but tonight, alas , there was a private pary for a "B" actor from Silverlake. John and I dined at the bar - which serves dinner, drinks and atmosphere. We started with a mojito - which was mediocre at best. I ordered the arugula salad - a good sized salad which was weighed down with too much dressing.....the BLT salad was good - John liked it. His only comment was that the lemon mousse with strawberry was more like lemon mousse with strawberry garnish. More on that later. After salads, we had the filet mignon - medium. Interesting. Served on a large bed of mashed potatoes - the meat was tender, rare and flavorful. I thought it was a little too much meat - I like a tastier, smaller portion. The dessert was unmemorable - a bit like a good pudding that is very tart. The waiter did comp our dessert because they had run out of the creme brulee - points for making us feel good. I like this restaurant, but I want them to work it a bit more. Ditch and head down the street is Blaires....
